Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary Bird Watching - Private
Description
Birdwatchers take a look. Spot the largest bird in the Americas from your boat! The Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary is, without doubt, the best place in Belize to sate your ornithologist appetite. Belize is home to well over 500 species of bird, and almost all of them can be spotted in these natural wetlands that are situated around 30 miles north of Belize City.
Your early-morning birding tour in Belize begins with meeting you at your hotel or cruise port in Belize City for the 50-minute drive to the sanctuary. You’ll be accompanied by an expert guide, who will introduce you to some of the birds you might see during your visit. These include the Jabiru Stork - the largest flying creature on the American continent - notable for its distinctive red-ringed neck. Herons, tropical waders called Jacanas, and egrets are also in residence, as are crocodiles, howler monkeys, and a variety of iguana species.
Your small group will take a guided boat tour on the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary’s lagoon, where you’ll enjoy 2-3 hours of full-on bird-watching time, perfect for taking photographs for your collection or just to soak up the excitement of seeing wildlife that’s so different from what’s found at home.
